Averted

A panic attack is terrifying and it is not dangerous. Averted is built around that one sentence.

Open it and the first thing on screen is the reassurance, then a single large button. No sign-in, no onboarding, no streaks to maintain. Everything works offline.

When it's happening

Between episodes

A private journal for logging intensity before and after, what may have triggered it, and which technique helped. Over time it shows your average drop in intensity — evidence, in your own data, that the techniques are working. Alongside it there's plain-language reading on why panic attacks happen and when to seek professional help.

Crisis resources, always two taps away

The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, the NAMI HelpLine, and a route to finding a therapist are reachable from the home screen at any time.

Averted is a self-help tool. It does not diagnose or treat, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number. In the US you can call or text 988 at any time.

Where the techniques come from

They're adapted from published guidance by NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness), the Anxiety & Depression Association of America, and Mayo Clinic. Each screen in the app names its source.
